All Hardware House orders are delivered via common carrier or small package carrier delivery service. (FedEx / UPS). For large orders, merchandise (cartons / products) are generally shrink wrapped to a pallet / pallets. However due to the length of some items, we may not be able to put loose items on a pallet. All cartons will have a shipping label attached identifying route, stop and customer. Items not on pallets will be referred to all loose items on the Bill of Lading. The Bill of Lading will be marked with the number of pallets and loose items delivered. When checking in your Hardware House order, you should inspect the pallet / pallets and any loose items received to what is noted on the Bill of Lading. For common carrier delivery orders, we wrap “Do not Break Pallet” tape around the pallet and over the top of the pallet. If the shipment does not arrive this way please look at the shipment very closely for damage or missing items. If visible product damage or a shortage is identified, mark the Damage/Shortage clearly on the Bill of Lading, Contact Hardware House customer service to file a claim, they will need a copy of the signed Bill of Lading. Most carriers only allow 7 days to file a claim; calling Hardware House customer service needs to be done right after you receive the damage/shortage order. If you sign the Bill of Lading without noting any problems, then it will clearly be the customer’s responsibility to file the claim with the carrier and not Hardware House, LLC. When checking in the order, if damage or a shortage is identified, follow the Credit Request procedure to request proper credit for the short or damaged items. If you have received an item, but did not order it, or received more items than what was ordered, (known as an overage), you should contact customer service, or file a credit request claim online and follow the return instructions. All damage or shortage claims should be filed within 7 days.
