A Builder at Heart Although the retail landscape is relatively new to Chupp, he is no stranger to the building industry. “I was the one buying instead of selling,” he says. “I bought a portable building business out of state in 2015. But when this business came up for sale, it looked very appealing to have something at home.” He sold that business, which included mini barns and storage sheds, in May 2020 to focus on opening Diamond Building Supply.
Chupp says his past experience on the contractor side is a tremendous help in making informed decisions for his business. “I understand what the contractors are looking for,” he says. “What types of service they are looking for and all of that.” Enter Blish-Mize Chupp became a Blish-Mize customer in March 2020, after being connected to the company through Yoder Lumber’s supplier.

Even while the store was being built, people began stopping by, asking when they would open. “We were blessed that everything worked together,” Chupp says. “We expect to make quite an impact on the community here. We anticipate a lot more walk-ins and DIY customers, plus keeping the contractors we have.”
